02/15/2007 - Run

So I should really be running more than this at this point. My 50 miler is just slightly less than 2 months away. One thing you will notice is that I do not follow any training plan, running is fun and I like to keep it that way.

I also run much better when its cold. Yes sad to say but for me the 53 degrees that it was today was cold. Remember I live in Florida.

Running to date, 02/14/2007

I understand that this is just a rough graph from the Nike+ website but it will give a good idea.

So with everything else that I have I figure that I would post screenshots of my Nike+ runs. I am taking the screenshot and then posting it to my Flickr account.

Croom Trail Run

My first race goal for this year is going to be the Croom Trail 50 Mile Fools Run. It takes place in Brooksville, Florida on April 6, 2007 with a start time of 6am.

This will be my longest distance to date and that makes it fun for me, a new way to test my body. I am a bit worried about the distance and time however. I ran the John Holmes 50k Trail Run last October and finished in just under 6 hours. Don’t get me wrong I felt great, actually I felt alot better than I had at some marathons but 50k would still leave me with roughly 20 miles to go and 6 more hours before the cut-off. I should make it without to much trouble but with never having gone this distance I am not sure how my body will hold up thru the later miles. I have to worry about my feet, legs and food intake. I however cannot wait!

I have done Ironman distance triathlons but the 50 mile run is much different in my opinion. So I am sure I can handle the amount of time I will be active for I am just not sure how my feet and legs will hold up. A great new adventure.

Now if I was really crazy I would do this short 5k or 10k the next morning.

NYC Marathon

Well I grew up on Long Island and spent alot of time hanging out in NYC. What a wonderful place it is. I currently live in Florida and have for the past 10 years, but I will always be a proud New Yorker and have always wanted to run NYC.

So yesterday I entered the lottery to get into the NYC Marathon. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Intro

Well I had intended to start this blog right after running the Goofy Challenge at Disney this past January, however with life happening it just did not happen. So I thought the next best time would be today. Why not.

This blog will be used to track and talk about my training & my goals. Since I left an office environment last year and starting working for myself from home the one thing that I really miss is being able to share my goals with someone else. I like to share my goals because it makes me work harder to get them, almost like by telling someone will make it more “real”. If that makes any sense.

So this will be my training, thoughts about training and also my goals for future races. I started racing as an endurance athlete back in 1999 doing mostly triathlons and then ended up getting more into distance running. Now I focus on half-marathons, full-marathons and lately ultra distance runs, but am looking to do a half or full ironman again with a year or so.

I recently ran a 50k with a goal to get a 50 miler in April (April 6th actually). So that is goal number 1 for now.
