Live Blogging My Upcoming 50 Miler
So as you may know I am getting ready to run the Croom Trail 50 Mile Fools Run on April 7th here in Brooksville, Florida. This run is 3 lap’s around a loop on the Croom Hiking Trail. I am both excited and very nervous at the same time. I am almost having second thoughts.
I have been toying with an idea that I have never done before, live blogging an event. First off I plan to put my phone (Blackberry) in my Camelbak just in case. See the run starts at 6am and has a 6pm cutoff, I plan to finish around 5pm. This run is a 3 loop course through the woods so not much for spectators. With that my wife and mother are going to drop me off in the morning and return later in the day, my phone is for that just in case. Hopefully not an emergency. Note to self, remember to eat and drink.
I have recently began using 2 geeky web items, Twitter & Tumblr and have been using Flickr for a while. Twitter is an easy kind of like IM to the Web thing and Tumblr is sort of a mini-blog. I am thinking about blogging the run. Every 5-10 miles I will make a Twit (post on Twitter) and maybe a Tumble (post on Tumblr) and will try to upload a photo or 10 of myself with my camera phone. The good part about this is that the Flickr photo’s and the Twitter post’s will all show up on my Tumblr site. So if you want to follow my journey to complete a 50 mile run then check me out here (http://robertnelson.tumblr.com/ on April 7th. Remember it starts at 6am with a 6pm cut-off.
My Twitter Page: Twitter
My Flickr Photo’s: Flickr
My Tumblr Site: Tumblr
So check me out at one or all of the above on April 7th, but remember if you check the Tumblr site you will get all 3 anyway. Hopefully this will work, as long as I can get a signal, which I am not to worried about. I will be in the woods, but not that far out there. It should work, I hope so because not only I am doing this for other’s to read and see but hopefully it will act as a distraction from the actual event for me and make it a bit easier to complete, at least on my mind, maybe not my body.
So on Saturday April 7th I invite you to join me as I (we) run a 50 mile trail run!
